Session 2

Reflect, learn and share your faith story

As you begin to gather as a Circle, take this time to share food and drink and discuss any questions you have been reflecting on. These three questions may help to start your discussion.

Belong - Where do I belong?
Believe - What do I believe?
Become - Who do I want to become?

Sign of the Cross

I have been created from love,
for a life of love,
lived with a God of love.

Guide me by grace,
through faith,
to a new life and mission.

Faith in the Incarnate Son of God

Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.

And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5: 10-12

Phones and computers all function by an operating system. This sets the basis for how they can be used. What is your ‘operating system’? What lies at the heart of your identity, defines your intentions, dictates your actions?

The identity of humanity can be found in Christ. In Christ we realise that we have been created out of love, for love, by a God of love.

This is what you are called to: a life of love. Love is the power that comes from the creator of the cosmos. To speak of an experience of this love, is to share a ‘testimony’.

The Gospel speaks of a faith that challenges us to make love our operating system. This can be hard. We seek justification from others, placing rationality above revelation. But, faith allows us to experience something beyond our comprehension.

Faith gives us the freedom to make Christ the centre of our lives, grounded in an encounter and a relationship of love. Share your story of encounter with all those that you encounter. Look to share this love through words and actions in every opportunity.

Reflect on your story. There are generally five (5) key parts.

Question One
When have you experienced a ‘personal encounter’ with God?
Question Two
Share - Before:
What was your life like before this ‘encounter’?
Question Three
Share - Middle:
Explain what is was like to you to experience this ‘encounter’?
Question Four
Share - After:
What was life like after this ‘encounter’?
Question Five
Is there a challenge that you can leave with the listener?

Sign of the Cross

Be still.

Pray for your intentions:
     Belong – Family, friends, community
     Believe – Faith, hope, love
     Become – Ministry, mission

‘We make these prayers in the name of Jesus'

Glory Be

Before you meet again as a Circle, commit to making these two actions. The 'Inwards' action will support you to grow in your faith. The'Outwards' action will challenge you to a new aspect of mission.

Inwards Action
Reflect on other ‘encounters’ you have had throughout your life
Outwards Action
Share your story with at least one person and ask them 'what's your story?'
