Session 5

Explore the truth: He is alive

As you begin to gather as a Circle, take this time to share food and drink and discuss any questions you have been reflecting on. These three questions may help to start your discussion.

Belong - Where do I belong?
Believe - What do I believe?
Become - Who do I want to become?

Sign of the Cross

I have been created from love,
for a life of love,
lived with a God of love.

Guide me by grace,
through faith,
to a new life and mission.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
John 20: 19-24

Christ is alive! If we let Jesus become merely a historical figure, then faith in Him would leave us unchanged: it would not set us free. Rather, humanities history is His-story of love.

The one who fills us with His grace, the one who liberates, transforms, heals and consoles us is fully alive. He is risen from the dead, alive. He can be present in your life at every moment. Even if all others leave, He will stay. He fills your life with his unseen presence; wherever you go, He will be waiting. He comes to you in the present, inviting you to new horizons.

See Jesus as overflowing with joy. Rejoice with him as a friend. He went to the cross, but He triumphed in the end. Evil does not have the last word. With Him, the end is just the beginning.

Today, open your heart to this message of life. Open yourself to an encounter with the Lord, let him love and save you today. Speak with Jesus about the realities of your life. For it is in this relationship with Christ that your life will find its true meaning and purpose.

Share your personal experiences on the following five (5) questions.

Question One
Do I see Jesus as 'alive' or as a historical figure?
Question Two
Have I ever 'encountered' Jesus?
Question Three
What are the things that I look to, to try and feel alive?
Question Four
Do I believe that the ‘end is just the beginning?’
Question Five
How can I seek Christ?
