Jesus Walks on Water

Early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”

Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased”
Matt 14: 25-32

Encounter

Reflect

God dwells amongst us. That is our core belief. The Catholic faith is about an encounter with God and His creation. It calls you to live a life of love, with a God of love.

Christ is God. It is through Christ that we - the Church - can have the life of salvation that God desires for humanity. It is in answering the call of Christ that we can have faith that will lead to peace that will rise above the chaos in our lives.

This series is called Belong. It is an opportunity to explore an encounter with Christ in the context of His Church. God himself is Belonging. God the Holy Spirit is the love that exists between God the Father and God the Son. This love created you, exists within you and continues to breathe life into you.

Just like Peter in the Gospel, God is calling out to you now, to ‘come’ and encounter Him. To set your gaze upon him and to boldly step out into the unknown. It is up to you to respond. Will you?

Amen.

Share your personal experiences on the following five (5) questions.

Question One
When have you stepped out in faith?
Question Two
Who are you following?
Question Three

Question Four
Who are you leading?
